That's great, Scott. You're a lucky man!
I'm sliding into the other side of it, my 21 year old son still wants to go with the old man, but his girlfriend is looming larger in the picture. Hoping he'll be with me on the next Wind River excursion later this year.
Man, your son is very lucky. I have to say that I am a little jelous. Kessler has traveled more and gone higher in his short life then i have gone in my 22 years. Expiriences like these will make him a strong person when he gets older. congrates on a great trip and a great story.
to share with your son! Great trip report and a fun read. My trips with my sons and/or daughter are my favorite mountain memories. Way to keep planning and doing more trips. They grow up all too fast.
Thanks for sharing about your trip, always enjoy reading about father/son outings, and looking forward to hearing about the next one with his sister. Vic
Yeah? Well, my parents carried me up Mt Monadnock when I was a baby! After that, I couldn't drum up much interest. What a lucky kid... what a lucky dad.
What a great Dad and a great report! I wonder if you are confident a mother/son trip would be as safe? I often think about taking my own son hiking outside the US, but as a female I wonder what degree of caution would be necessary. I wish there were more organized trips available tailored to children. I look forward to reading about your future adventures, thanks for submitting this report.
I enjoyed the photos and text immensely. Quite an adventure for a little boy. I particularly liked the parts about his interactions with the Peruvian children.
Ha! An excellent adventure. Kessler is lucky to have such a cool dad. He must have a great attitude, which no doubt you've instilled in him. Out of curiosity, how long (and about how much vertical) can Kessler hike in a day?
wow!!! you really need to teach me how to make my daugther do all that last year I went to the amazon jungle by a www.totallyperu.com peru travel agency and she wouldn't even eat anything other than snacks!
It was like hell to me! She was crying all the time...

He's done 14 miles in a day. Our average in the mountains/desert depending on terrain is 9-11 miles a day.
