I've seen alot of Mollys Nipples in Utah and Idaho but this is the first one named for good ole Fern. I love the area and the colors that makes Utah a treasure trove.
From the Henry Mtns, the colors of Capitol Reef made it through the haze although somewhat dulled by it.
This is a great page with lots of good information and is a nice addition to SP.
We were just there a month ago. We just LOVE Capitol Reef National Park! Good job on this page! Lots of good info.

Aaron, we have a national park pass so I did not personally pay anything. The Web site says you are supposed to pay $5 if you use the scenic drive, which if you are going to do Ferns Nipple you have to do. Cheers.

Aaron, you are right, no manned kiosks I believe. We went through so many NP's that I thought they all had such. I guess you are supposed to stop and pay your $5 at the ranger station/gift shop if you are going down Scenic Road. There was no gate to scenic road either. Thanks for the correction. Cheers.
Great page and the usual excellent photos, Dow. I love southern Utah's parks. Thanks for posting. Taking a gamble here, though, didn't you casue a ruckus of sorts by posting another nipple once? :-)

ahhh, good memory Nelson....I almost thought of referencing Sqaw's Tit on this page and thought better of it...I really am not a sexual deviant...just am drawn to these peaks for some reason....I imagine back in the day, the tough pioneers were not to pleased with the bureaucrats back east....I have to say, Ferns Nipple sits much better with me than Sir Douglas or the like. Cheers!

Neat information. I'd heard of Fruita somewhere in my chaotic and voracious reading. Had forgotten about it til now.

Untitled CommentYou seem to be preoccupied about "female mountains":
Lady Mountain
Big Sister
Mt. Edith
Squaws Tit
Isabelle Peak
Mt. Lorette
Mrs. Butterworth
Ferns Nipple
:-)
