First Snow Hike

First Snow Hike

Samira hiking in the snow for the first time, August 13, 2011.  Samira passed away from heroin addiction in June of 2018.  It was my hope that introducing her to the mountains might show her that there is much more to life.

Wow ..

It must have been a warm day on the summit of
Pilchuck!

Is there a particular brand of suntan lotion
that is recommended on Pilchuck ???

Re: Wow ..

Ha! I appreciate the good humor. It was quite warm that day. Normally I wouldn't spend a summer day doing a repeat, but Pilchuck is such a great place to get newbies into hiking.

Re: what snow in august!

This is near the town of Granite Falls which is just east of Everett. Believe it or not, typically we have snow remaining at elevation all year long especially on north faces. But most of it is usually gone by September or October.
