The long way down..  Sucess!

Traversed over from Notchtop for the "scenic" route back to the car.

A windy one  Sucess!

Summited after ascent of east face of Notchtop. This was the easiest way down in 60mph wind after sunset. Not a bad walk except the friggin' ice on the trail all the way down. Indian summer makes for great ice climbing, but horrible trails. With Jim C (mountainlord)

A little sick...  Sucess!

Came from sea level the day before and was going to hike along the divide to Andrew's glacier but felt a little sick on top so we turned back.

Great hike  Sucess!

It had snowed a lot and my brother and I went up without snowshoes, but we made it, we were the only people on the trail that day. The trail wasn't actually really there either. It was very windy at the summit.

Beautiful Morning Turns To Hail  Sucess!

Planned on Hallett too, but clouds started coming in late mornnig. Had a nice hail/rain storm banging on us for the last half-mile. Great day, though.

That'll Do  Sucess!

We were actually aiming for Hallet Peak, but ominous clouds turned us around as soon as we summitted Flattop. Oh well, next time!

great hike  Sucess!

Though the trail is all switchbacks, the grade agreed with us. With an early start we reached the top before 8:00am, making Hallett an easy add-on with perfect weather.

With my Son  Sucess!

Enjoyed hike with my son to top - but his altitude sickness kept us from other peaks. Cloudy.

via Dragon's Tail  Sucess!

Awesome climb up Dragon's Tail to the ho-hum summit. Traversed over to Powell. Long day.

Should have had a glissade!  Sucess!

Plenty o' fun in Dragons Tail Couloir.

But a painful, posthole descent in breakable crust overlaying crotch deep sludge which in turn obscured Flattop Trail. Since neither of us had ever been on the trail, we ended up bushwhacking large sections on top of everything else.

Next time, GLISSADE TYNDALL GLACIER! Especially stupid since I made my partner walk the best part of a mile in a gale to tag the 10-acre patch that passes for a summit block! Another 20 minutes and we could have been sliding for home like champs. Instead we post-holed down like chumps.

N Couloir from Lake Helene  Sucess!

Solo trip with ski goals. Climbed and descended (beautiful powder) a couloir on north side. Spent a lot of time looking for the summit. Its flat up there.

Great hike  Sucess!

May 2007: The trail has a superb grade. Not too steep, not too flat. Hip-high snow was mushy by 11 a.m. with severe off-trail postholing. 15 minutes to the top and blown off by 10 a.m. lightning. Spring mountain weather. Gotta love it.

Oct. 2007: ... Returned en route to Hallett. High wind from the west. Ranger station posted 29 mph w/ gusts above 40 mph. I believe it. Snow was hard enough to make for good travel where it hadn't alll blown away.

Cool, crisp day  Sucess!

Quite a bit nippy with a stiff wind, but beautiful nonetheless. Hallett Peak next time...

I hiked Flattop with my brother on the way to Hallett. We're both looking forward to a snow ascent.

First 12er  Sucess!

Hiked on my way home to Texas (from Utah). Loved the boulder garden on the way up. Wanted to climb Hallet Peak, but I saw a storm coming in (it started raining the minute I hit the parking lot.)
