For the NW Ridge Route, this...
For the NW Ridge Route, this is the gully one has to ascend to get to the summit. The snow, if present, can be hardpacked in late summer. I remember wishing I had an ice-axe. At the notch atop the gully, turn left and climb steeply for about 50 feet. The terrain then angles off to the flattish summit. The South Peak (6,010 ft) is to the right. Aug. 10, 1997.
