Missing relicsThe two above were gone in Sept, 2004. The square plate at bottom made of soft lead was broken in two. It was placed there in 1933 and I fear that it too will disappear eventually - too many visitors to this summit I'm afraid.

Re: Missing relicsI think the missing summit registers is a different issue. These plates were probably taken by a souvenir hunter (aka jerk). The summit registers were probably removed by one or more Wilderness Act vigilantes (aka eco-jerks) who believe the summits should remain unblemished.

we saw them allI don't think the lead plate was broken by vandalism; it is simply very fragile.
