We started from Juvashytta up to the summit via the glacier, down to Spiterstulen.
Beautiful, a bit too cloudy that day though.

A nice climb though with very windy conditions and clouds, plus some rain, we appreciated to spend some time in the refuge on the top!

Using a rope on the glacier is of course mandatory, some crevasses.

Nice hike with a lot of people. We were glad to still have some snowfields on the way up. Took us about 2.5 hours to summit.

Attempted the normal route but due to the fog and snow conditions turned around about 200m shy of the summit

Climbed this high point with a group of friends on August 18, 2013. Low visibility (50M) restricted view above 2,000M (seems to be common). However, the views on the glacier to be crossed from the Juvashytte route were spectacular when visibility cleared for short moments. The low visibility didn't seem to stop many people from climbing Galdhoppigen though.

The Spiterstulen route requires no technical equipment or skills. However, be aware that the rocks near the top can be very slippery. A good sole is a must (I used worn-out shoes, which was a little problematic due to lack of grip and water resistance). The climb itself is relatively constant, but remember that the galdhoppigen has a small structure on top (we thought we reached the top initially, but it appeared to be the Keilhaus topp).

Tried to climb Galdhpiggen from Spiterstulen but I didn't have luck with the weather and due to thick fog and strong wind I lost the path and after a short wandering around decided to go back to the refuge. Hope to have a better luck next time.

Early summer season climb! Approached through Svellnosbrean glacier and put tents up just under the ridge. Nice ridge climbing requires some rappels and III+ rock climbing sections. But nothing too difficult. One of the best routes up to the highest mountain in Northern Europe.

MetalliwelchDay to remember  Sucess!

No real experience required. It is a long plod with an easy scramble. Fitness, warm clothes, and food are the only things you need in summer. It is SO worth it, breathtaking views of gigantic glaciers, distant mountains all from the highest mountain in Scandinavia :) Began in sunny conditions, but summitted in a blizzard as weather changed, adding to the thrill. Jogged down the mountain to Spiterstulen for 9pm (late start I know), relaxed with a glass of wine and cards in the log cabin by a fire. What could be more perfect? 10/10.

It was suppose to rain so we hurried up the mountain and reached the summit in 3,5 hour. Our reward was a 360 degree panorama view! Lovely! But later when we got back to Spiterstulen it started to rain...and it never stopped, so we went home to Sweden.

Me and my girlfriend Åsa climbed Galdhøpiggen from the Jyvvas hytta across the Styggebraen-glacier. Our descent was via the Spiterstulen-route. We were the first party on the glacier at around 08:00 hrs. Later during the day huge parties of 30-40 people crossed the Styggebraen. (Guided groups from Jyvvas hytta). No early alpine starts over here....

A nice climb from Spiterstulen. We started the day around 7 AM in nice, sunny weather, which unfortunately went from bad to worse on the way up. By the time we reached the top, we had strong winds, the rain was a mix of water and sleet, and it was hard to stand up. The weather continued to get worse when we descended from the mountain, and a lot of groups decided to turn back, so we had made it just in-time.

According to discussion inside the summit hut, the previous night had been the prettiest on the mountain that whole year - just our luck!

The climb took us around 7 hours, including some rest at the summit hut.
