From Keswick take the A591 out of town towards Bassenthwite Village and after crossing the Crossthwaite Roundabout turn immediately right onto the minor road towards Applethwaite. After a mile turn sharp right towards the Underscar Country Club Hotel and continue to the end and park. Now put your hiking boots on!
The map I use for this area is Ordnance Survey, Outdoor Leisure 4, The English Lakes, North Western Area, 1:25,000 scale. The table below shows a set of waypoints for this route together with start and finish points which can be programmed into a GPS. Note that these are OS grid references and NOT Lat. & Long. Positions and that the Bearing and Distance information is an “as the crow flies” bearing and distance to the next peak or waypoint.
There really is very little to say about this route it is very “straight-line-ish” and easy. The map and waypoints will help you in cloud or bad weather but this is a very visible route in that you can see it most of the way to the summit
For an interactive map of the summit which can be “extended” in any direction click multimap
Good hiking boots/shoes, waterproof and windproof clothing.
If you have information about this route that doesn't pertain to any of the other sections, please add it here.
