I love this photoWhat a great shot. There are lots of Mount Rainier Summit pictures looking south on this site, but this is my favorite. The combination of the old fashioned equipment, especially the ice axe, and the view of pre-eruption Mount St. Helens make it a classic.

Re: I love this photo I wasn't going to even post this pic as I really don't like posting pics with me in them but your comments make me glad I did. Thank you.
BTW, I never got tired of the views from Camp Muir when the clouds formed below.

GREAT classic picture...I won't call it an old picture. I climbed Rainier from this side in 1984 - ALWAYS loved what was left of St. Helens peeking up above the clouds. Did a lot of scrambles with the Tacoma Mountaineers during the 80's. Remember seeing the wooden-handled ice axes, carried by the "more-seasoned." I didn't ever run into any MOOSE, though! TAKE CARE, Dean !!!
(I didn't even run into Fred Beckey.)

Re: I agree with MartinThanks Anya. It is hard for me to believe that almost 40 years have passed since I did this mountain. Of course, I'm still loving every minute I can get to be in the mountains.
