This is one i am looking forward to. You'd of thought the ranger would've mentioned the "closed" road situation and about the so called "new" road. It is is irritating to see that the sheriff (who must have driven on the closed road) would not be coordinated with the forest service. Thanks for sharing your experience and the maps are great.
Nice report. I was wondering if anyone from summitpost made it this year. I have the trip report from July posted too, but weather stopped us in early July. We took bikes. Not only the slump was unpassable, but many logs still crossed the road. The ranger told me then, the money and equipment was ok'd to fix the road right away. I hope you don't get a ticket. Were they enforcing "Trail Parking Passes" too?
