Clouds came and went making it chilly and warm off and on. The Guanella Pass marsh area was pretty well frozen (especially in the morning) making that part a lot easier than I had expected. Then there was about 500-600 ft of trenching before we could take off snowshoes at about 12,100ft.

I circled the entire ridgeline starting with Bierstadt... minus Evans, but including Pt. 13307 (which was a blast BTW). I only spent about 5 seconds on the summit of Gray Wolf due to an approaching T-storm. And by approaching I mean 50 feet away.

What a fantastic way to spend Halloween! Beautiful, blue-bird skies, bright sun...cold and windy up top but surprisingly warm along most of the route. All twelve of our team made the summit! Partners: The "Collard Greens" CMC outing.

On the way to Hell's Hole I looked for a good spot to begin the bushwhack up Gray Wolf. Trees were thick and I was solo so I continued out to Hell's Hole to hang out. Met a solo hiker who also wanted to hike Gray Wolf so we went together. We started hiking back along the trail and descended into the trees directly across from the low part of the saddle. Spacing in the trees wasn't bad, making for minimal whacking. It is easy to get turned around in there, especially on the hike out. Seemed like a good way to head up the peak and it was.

Started at Summit Lake and hiked up the rib of Spalding before heading off towards Gray Wolf. There was still a fair amount of snow on Spalding's northern slope which was melting fast causing the saddle between Spalding and Gray Wolf to be quite wet. After summiting Gray Wolf I then did Spalding and Mt. Evans. Beautiful day with only light fluffy, non-threatening clouds overhead.

Climbed solo as part of a long ridge tour from Echo Lake - Goliath to Rogers to Warren to Spalding to Gray Wolf back to Echo Lake. Great warm spring day with plenty of sunshine! The road was still closed giving the place an eerie solitude.

Clouds covered much of the top to the mountians in the front range. not the best views on top, and dang cold, yet warm in the valley below. Wonderful hike. Was good to finally reach the summit after failing to summit 3 years ago.

Started at Guanella Pass and climbed the gentle south slopes of Gray Wolf after summitting Mount Spaulding on a very cold, windy day.

I started from Guanella Pass and started slogging through the willows in the Scott Gomer Creek drainage. The wind picked up as I ascended into the tundra. Beautiful bluebird day.

Started from West Chicago Creek trailhead, aiming for Mt Evans and Gray Wolf Mountain. Was delayed due to "map" issues, so settled for Mt Spalding and Gray Wolf Mountain instead. It was still a 16.2 mile trek, although through beautiful country.

combined with Spalding from Summit Lake. Perfect blues skies, perfect temps. Nice hike. Cool summit. Views over the Black Wall into Chicago basin were cool.

Great hike from Echo. Started Early and didn't see anyone until it hit the trail on the return. From that point on there was a constant stream of people but still nothing like Guanella Pass.
