Though I suppose you are not finished, let me give you four stars already. Reading about the collapse of part of the mountain was rather interesting.
Is it known, what caused the collapse of the mountain. I find it interesting, since in the region about I am writing nowadays there was a similar collapse (a "Bergrutsch" = mountain slide) in 1348. Oddly enough that is rather close to the 500 year mark. In this case it was an earthquake, since the valley the mountain (Dobratsch) is part of is the exact fault line between the African and European tectonic plates. I would assume that this might be similar in the case of Greenleaf Peak.
Funny note aside: the main town in the area is a twin town - Kötschach - Mauthen. They say that the people of Kötschach in the north are the Europeans, while the people from Mauthen on the other side of the valley are African :-)

I need to get back up there to get some more pics. The weather sucked last Thurs. pm and the light was bad with all the cliffs in shadow so most of the photos I took aren't good enough to post.
Anyway, I'm off to San Francisco in the morning for a weekend show, then back to vote on Tues, and back on a plane for another show in Vegas from 11/3 to 11/6 - Work can sure screw up a guys real life!
If the weather cooperates, I'd like to get back up there on 11/7. (but then again, "bad" weather might be interesting up there)

I never saw this peak before. Saw it in the Washington peaks index. How dare you sneak a WA peak in without me knowing it! Oregonians! What can you do with them?

I've been spending some time in the Gorge exploring some new areas and have found some more virtually "unknown" peaks - most recently just last week. The beard is gone (as per command) so, as hoped, winter has arrived! - unfortunately, due to that weather, my pics of some of my new "discoveries" are not up to SP standards so I haven't posted any of them. I will have lots of weekdays off in April to explore and have some re-dos planned plus some new routes. Interested?
