| The day started well enough, but increasingly high winds made the ridge traverse a pain. C’est la vie. The views were great and the climbing was straight forward. ---- 1/15/11 - A fun climb with my wife and two others. The conditions were great on the way up, but the wind howled on the descent. My wife was a champ in both spirit and performance – I was very proud. She’s excited for future ascents. | ||

| Did this as a training hike for Holy Cross. Hiked with about 30 lbs untill Grizzly's peak saddle. Dropped the weight and ascended. Nice short hike easily bagging 2 thirteeners. Great hike, loved it. | ||

| I've been on Grizzly in Summer, Winter and Spring. It's a great spot from which to have a look around. | ||

| Tried to skin up from Loveland Pass. Finding continuous snow was difficult and what snow there was had a terribly punchy wind crust. Ended up bailing on my skis for the final climb up to the summit. Beautiful weather though. | ||

| I did the Loveland Pass approach which was pretty beautiful. The views are awesome from the very start and keep getting better the further up the ridge you go. I started at 5:45AM, it was 40 degrees which was a nice break from the oppressive heat down in Denver. The amount of drainages, peaks, and ranges you can see from this ridge is staggering. I summited at 8:30 and was back in my car by 11:00. It was definitely a challenge but a great way to start the hiking season. | ||

| Climbed Grizzly and Point 13,117 on a very nice day. Met no one on the climb except for 5 big horn rams that blew by me and went right up Grizzly. | ||

| A nice winter day on the divide. No wind and just enough snow to make it scenic. Summited around 3 or 4 in the afternoon. Jon | ||

| Most of the time the summit was in the clouds - but I had nice views of the Loveland Pass area during the hike. Good 1/2 day round trip. | ||

| umbra alta | Route Climbed: North west slopes from Sniktau connecting ridge Date Climbed: March 2003 ![]() | |
| Climed this in winter conditions in March. High wind, drifts and blowing snow. Made the last steep bit to the summit somewhat treacherous. This is a strenuous climb and a good conditioner/acclimatizer due to the up and down nature of the ridge. | ||

| Great hike. More wind than I've ever seen. Saw at least fifty avalanches on the surrounding slopes. Fortunately there weren't some on the trail. Spectacular scenery for a spectacular day. | ||

| This is an excellent stroll above timberline at any time of year, with easy access (provided Loveland Pass isn't closed for avalanche blasting or plowing). It is also a great beginner's hike to expose them to the mountains as well. An added bonus is that you get to climb two ranked 13ers, the other being the unnamed 13,117' Point a mile north of Grizzly. Early in the summer, be careful of cornices that may hang ofver the east facing slopes to the left of the ascent ridge. | ||

| Great little peak and a great training climb. Instant elevation and can have conditions training, esp if training for a bigger peak, much ups and down along the ridge. | ||
