Hamlin Peak as seen from the intersection of the Baxter Peak Cut-Off Trail and the Saddle Trail. Hamlin Peak is the second highest mountain in Maine at 4,751 feet and is only about a 2 mile hike from the highest, Baxter Peak. Hamlin Peak is a part of the large Katahdin massif and is almost directly north of Baxter Peak. Here, Hamlin Peak is seen on the fourth of July, as my brother and I made nearly two ascents of Baxter Peak in one day.
