Head On View of Athabasca Glacier from Trail

Hike to the Toe of the Athabasca Glacier Nice head-on zoom view of the Athabasca Glacier from the short trail to the toe. The Columbia Icefield is at the very top of the picture with the glacier coming down from the icefield to the stream at the bottom. The trail rope delineating the safe areas for hiking is clearly shown here but several walkers were seen all over the glacier despite multiple warning signs and clear crevasses everywhere. I didn't notice the dirt and dark discoloration as much when I took this picture but they seem more overwhelming looking back now! September 12, 2011
