Heron - River Teviot ( Hawick )

Whilst on a holiday in the Scottish Border area we stopped in this fine town for a walk round. The great River Teviot a tributary of the Tweed runs through Hawick and whilst walkin along the river side I saw this Heron standing still waiting to catch its meal.

Superb indeed, I've been trying to photograph a heron near my house but the bugger keeps flying away. How close are you here?

Other side of the river using the optical zoom again on my Olympus SP-550 UZ camera.
The river is quite wide here in Hawick but not really sure how wide. LOL
