Approach

Start from the Ozark Trail trailhead along Highway A.

Finding this trailhead is made much easier with the use of DeLorme's Missouri Atlas & Gazetteer. A link is provided to the left.

Route Description

The first portion of the hike where much of the vertical gain is done is on the Ozark Trail and is well marked. Once leaving the Ozark Trail, the trail is not so well marked but is fairly east to follow. A map and compass or GPS would be helpful. See the approximate route on the attached photo.

Essential Gear

Backpacking gear would make this a great overnight trip in the fall for the changing colors and star gazing at night. Avoid peak summer months to avoid heat, humidity and bugs.

Parents

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
