It started with a mistake

Nevado SepreginaWorkers bringing the harvest to Cabanaconde as I'm hiking out. In the background (and on the other side of the Canyon) is Nevado Sepregina. At 5432m, it's more than 3000m higher than the canyon floor.

Getting out of bed early isn't one of my strong suits - unless there is a compelling reason for it. I didn't anticipate that reason for today, and so I didn't start hiking until half past eight.

I wanted to do the circuit hike, down into the canyon along the eastern track and up again by "the Oasis". I didn't know it yet, but I should have started earlier.

The solution

During the hike, I realized my mistake, and fixed it by having only one rest stop. I got back just after darkness. Mind you, I did stop a lot for taking pictures!
