| My 13th Fourteener. Great tree color etc. in the valleys, but caught in a total whiteout on the summit with no view whatsoever. Two hours later, the sky cleared, but I was already back down at the South Winfield Trailhead. Who says it pays to start early??? :-) | ||

| This was definitely a climb that me and my friends winged. We set out for a nice hike in the mountains near Winfield and wound up on top of Browns Peak, looked at a map, and realized that Huron Peak was right there. So we went over and climbed it, too. Great weather and a hell of a fun day! | ||

| Second attempt, first summit. Still we had thunderstorms and a long downpour on our descent, late in the day. Probably the wettest I've been. | ||

| HIked with my dad under cool, cloudy conditions. The summit was completely socked in when we were there, depriving us of the view of the Three Apostles. | ||

| What a wonderful mountain. Excellent trail work by CFI or whoever worked on it. After having done a long hike the day before, Huron was a joy to climb. We had fantastic weather - I dare say one of the nicest days we have had all climbing season. | ||

| My first successful 14er! A very scenic hike from top to bottom, even the 4 wheel drive approach is nice. Hiked it from the far trailhead (due to owning a nissan sentra) making it 8 miles roundtrip. Lost the trail at the peak making for some boulder hoping to top. | ||

| Everyone's entitled to a certain amount of error in life, and before getting this mountain, I filled my quota! Three or four years before the successful summiting date shown above, I set out on a beautiful day for a solo climb of Huron. Well, okay, admittedly I didn't exactly study the route--not the route up the mountain, the route TO the mountain--so happily oblivious to the world, took a couple wrong turns en route. Uh...wrong turns I knew nothing about. So, see, eventually it was still this stupendous day, and after working for a couple hours up this nice ridge, eventually reached that wonderful point where the view starts opening up, which in this case meant coming over what I assumed was a shoulder leading to something like a view of the peak itself. To my surprise, not only had I reached the summit of what I'd been toiling up, I was standing, admiring a view with the most definite problem that most of that view included peaks higher than the one I was on! To this day I don't know what it was I climbed. But I know what it wasn't. It was, however, a terrifically nice day. Returned, though, in August, 1997, and in a magnificent show of map-reading ability, did the real thing with Elizabeth, who of course never doubted for a minute but that we'd make the right summit. (Okay that's enough; stop laughing, Aaron...I've suffered entirely too much as it is over this.) P.S. The real Huron's actually a very nice peak. | ||

| Climbed with Adam Roddy. This was a fun hike with great views from the summit. I did get altitude sickness on top and it made the descent miserable. | ||

| Unseasonably cold day up high. A fantastic snow climb after a clear, cold night. Couldn't find a continuous snow field to the peak, but only took off the crampons at 13, 800 or so because of talus fields. By the way, I made it up the road with a Ford Explorer in slight snow with no issues. It's not too bad if you take it slow. | ||

| from behind brown's peak, and the first I had to leave G in the truck due to arthritis. Steep peak, but in the heart of the sawatch, the sea of peaks is nice to see. | ||

| We summitted, but clouds obscured our views for most of the day. We only caught one fleeting view of the Apostles. We'll be back... | ||

| This would be a great mountain to ski when the snow is right. I remember this one as a work out and one more down. If you like a lot of talus and scree then do this one in the Summer!! | ||

| Magnificent and easy hike! Took on trail at 5:30 with flashlight;( first ever hike in the dark) was at timberline by 6:15 and reached summit by 9:15; Cloudy, some fog, then cleared just above the peak once the summit was reached. Four people on the top, pika, marmot..... Great views of Ice Mountain, Missouri Peak, Oxford, Belford, Harvard, Yale, la Plata, Three Apostles. One very distinct " ruby red " peak in the distant South, somehow West of Yale. Can anyone tell me what that is? | ||

| Beautiful easy hike on a great trail. Only about 7 other people on the mountain in total which made it even better. Reached the summit in about 3 1/2 hours from the lower 2wd trailhead. Great weather the whole way. | ||
