Re: :)Yes, I,ve a few times, because from time to time I take my 'non-climbing' friends to show them some normal hiking trails in H.Tatras and rest. Sometimes it makes me happy even more than fighting for a life on difficult routes... Were you in Poland for a week in April during some kind of eurotrip, or only to visit Pl for a short time straight from usa?

Re: :)I take regular friends hiking in the Appalachians as well! It feels great to let other people share the experience. I was visiting my family, and we have a house there, straight from the US. I also played tennis there in Warsaw. Have you ever been in America?

Re: :)I've never been in america before, only my aunt and uncle try to invite me from time to time... Now I've got a longest holiday in my life (4 1/2 months:D ), after secondary school exams, want to use them for getting a climbing experience as much as possible. Do you climb? Have you got some concrete plans/dreams connected with a mountains?

Re: :)Wow, you are lucky so be able to go climbing for so long! Yes, i have climbed before on mountains like Orla Perc. However, i usually just hike the 14ers in Colorado. I am actually going to be taking some courses this summer to improve my skills, then go climbing myself. I actually want to become an adventure journalist when i grow up; climb mountains and write about it! How about you?

Re: :)Are you going to take course of rock or mountain climbing? Are there any popular climbing areas not far away from your home? We've just Jura (40min from katowice), Sokoliki (3-4h) and High Tatra Mountains ofc (3h), I am jealous if you have a bigger diversity of massifs. I would like to become international mountain guide, more for myself than for a job, also thought about writing a book, but in both cases it's still a long way... In October studies 'll show me the sad reality ;)

Re: :)Rock climbing in the mountains; i do not really know the difference. Actually, since i live in Virginia, the only good place for climbing mountains is 3 hours away...So my dad and I usually travel to Colorado to climb some "real" mountains. We are hoping to move soon however, maybe Vancouver. I have been to the Tatras, and trust me, they are a lot better then what we have here. That is wonderful aspirations though; you can be my guide to Mount Everest in the future! :) What is this October studies?

Re: :)Polish Alpine Club organize 3 levels of courses: 1)rock climbing - sport and trad - taking about one week, often in Jura or Sokoliki - so rocks till 50m high, 2) summer mountain climbing in H.Tatras on multipitches routes, two weeks 3)Winter mountain climbing - 2 or 3 weeks, that's the difference I mean, but it's great when you could start from truly mountain climbing at the beginning. Vancouver? I loved that place and area from photos, films and books. Olympic games too^^.
Tatras are wonderful, could be a bit higher, however 2655m it's fine too. Tomorrow I'll travel there to climb something, mostly from Slovakia side, I hope for a good weather. I'll be there two weeks - or one if I'll have to come back on a sport climbing competition in Gliwice. Medical or biotechnology studies, depend on my exam results... Everest sounds good, we could choose some less popular route with no so many people as on normal trail from Nepal. :) Did your dad 'infected' you all those love to mountains and adventures?

I do not really know the technical terms of everything...What we do is pretty much backpacking and class 3 scrambling at over 4,200 meters in Colorado (besides Orla Perc and Rysy). I am so excited to actually learn everything about climbing this summer though!!
Yes, i went to Vancouver for a week for a conference and spent all of my free time climbing the surrounding mountains in jeans and tennis shoes :P. Do you ski? Tatras have much more solid rock than in Colorado/Virginia. The mountains are very old here.
You are doing a sport climbing competition? What is that like?
Is what you are studying going to help you become an international guide? :P
Haha that would be great! I am actually really hoping to do all of the very high nontechnical mountains like Kilimanjaro and Aconcagua since I am more used to high altitudes than actual climbing. :)
And yes he did! Did your parents do the same?

Re: :)That was a good time, a little piece of freedom... but now I'm back again in reality. It'll be helpful that you've got a high altitudes experience now, in so eldery age. xD Yes, I'm keen on skiing and skialpinizm, try to make a progress each winter. In sport climbing competition are categories - a) time - you're running on the wall as fast as possible on easy routes :), the best time win and b) difficultes - leading or upper protection, person who get highest win. There are also a bouldering competition. Studies'll help me only to waste my life ;p My father is a trad climber, he's done many things in Tatras, Alps and Caucas, so this is also a family thing. Have you got concrete plan how to become an adventure journalist? And which high and famous mountain would you like to attempt first? And when? :D
