Re: WowThe plant is many headed sedge (Carex synchnocephala). It likes the mud between high and low water lines like you see in the photo. But its generally limited to large river bottoms in Canada and the northern States. Strange to see it up in a mountain range like this. It has a pretty wide range, but is very sparse in most of it. I'd post a picture, but sedges aren't much to look at.
