Re: Bar Brasserie ?thanks again, the dog was a bit fortuitous I guess, but its nice to get a bit of luck when taking a snapshot.
There are plenty of bars in Gavarnie but we didn't really get time for a pub crawl, too busy trying to crawl up the hills.
cheers Johnnie

Re: Bar Brasserie ?yep you're right, that is the place, there are a lot of hills around 3000 metres so there's lots to do, the ones in the background are on the Cirque de Gavarnie which has some impressive waterfalls. I've not been there in winter but I imagine the ice clmbing would be amazing.
cheers Johnnie

Gavarnie - in perfect weather!I'd like to go back there someday...wasn't too lucky with the weather in the Pyrenees when I was there back in September 1993...I saw Gavarnie only in pouring rain!

Re: Gavarnie - in perfect weather!Tough luck Eric, we tend to go early season (May - June) and although this means still a lot of snow about, the weather is mostly settled apart from afternoon thunderstorms.
Better luck next time (we will be there mid-may this year)
cheers Johnnie
