Climbing the Snake Couloir
View from about 3/4 of the way up the Snake Couloir, slightly above the dogleg. Mount Sneffels, San Juan Mountains, Colorado. May 2007.

The snow was soft enough to get a good self belay with my ice axe. Later in the season it would be wise to protect the climb.

I'm not sure, but it is deeply inset and definately sees very little sun. It remains as an ice climb during the summer and fall.

I like this one because of the plunging perpective. Really shows the climb, the steepness. Yup, would be nice when icy. But in any conditions - what a fab place to "be".
