Voted 10/10 | Beautiful depth and contrast with the snow.
I'm always amazed as I live in a similar area with high plains desert and mountains, how varied the climate can be.
Great shot!

Hasn't voted | Thank you so much Roxy.
Talking about getting lucky! We had snow on the ground, clear weather and clean air for a several days in a row. On all my previous visits to Utah, always in winter, I had mostly bad weather.
Thank you for the visit, Roxy,
cheers | | Posted Jul 15, 2009 11:06 am |

| Mark Doiron | Another Beaut, Marc ... | |
Voted 10/10 | That's another beautiful shot, Marc; thanks for sharing! My son (cdoiron on SP) and I are headed back to Moab and parts of Utah in a couple weeks, so maybe I'll have a couple pic's and TRs to contribute on our return. --mark d. | | Posted Jul 20, 2009 11:18 am |

Hasn't voted | Thank you for the nice comment, Mark. I was lucky to have such a clean and crisp afternoon. The snow on the ground didn't hurt either.
I envy you guys going to Moab soon. I have never been there during the summer months, but one of these years I'm hoping to do
that.
Thanks for dropping by, and have a great time on your trip.

| Wasatchvoyage | Very nice photo. | |
Voted 10/10 | I remember standing at the location this photo was taken last October, looks like you had much better conditions for this great picture. The sheer drop off of the Schafer Trail at that location was incredible, it's amazing that the road was created down through the cliffs there. Once again, very cool photo Marc. Cheers, Cory. | | Posted Jul 22, 2009 1:02 am |
 | | Marcsoltan | Re: Very nice photo. | |
Hasn't voted | I could not have asked for better weather conditions or timing. Everything worked out great. I took about a hundred shots. Many are as good as this one.
By the way, it seems that I have misspelled the name of the canyon. I will make the correction.
Thanks for the visit and the compliment, Cory,
Happy climbing,

It was only luck that I was there at exactly the right time. | | Posted Jul 23, 2009 11:36 am |
| Day Hiker | timing | |
Voted 10/10 | You're freaking people out, posting this photo in the middle of summer! Let them know the date. Was it 29 December 2008?
Even the 12721-foot summit of Peale would be an unlikely place for snowfall in July, especially for any that would stay on the ground. | | Posted Jul 24, 2009 11:32 am |
 | | Marcsoltan | Re: timing | |
Hasn't voted | I am so sorry Day Hiker, I didn't know timing was going to be an issue. Yes, I did take this shot last December. I forgot I had taken about a hundred photos of The Canyonlands. Then I saw them again two weeks ago. I thought to post one for kicks, to share, and certainly not to freak people out. Most of my photos are taken during the winter months, because of the snow.
I will add the date to the caption. | | Posted Jul 24, 2009 3:11 pm |
