Village of RoodbarakIn 1968 I took my second trip to this village. There was nothing but a collection of small single-story houses.
But, now this village looks like a resort town in Switzerland. I just love the progress that has been made.
Thanks for sharing.

Re: Village of RoodbarakThank you Marc
The older climbers in Iran talk about the days when to climb Alam Kooh, they had to start hiking in the forest from the Roodbarak Village. These days, you can drive a road all the way to Tange Galoo (3200 m) if you plan to approach Alam Kooh from the south via the Hesar Chal Route.
Roodbarak has become a nice place for wealthier people to build vacation homes. With that of course comes overpopulation, deforestation....

Re: Village of RoodbarakThank you Nader for the latest on Roodbarak. I happen to be one of those older climbers who walked to the North side of Alam Kooh starting from this village. I remember it took a full day, at a fast clip, to make it to the shelter at 11000 feet. And another day to make it to the Glacier on the base of Alam Kooh.
I was naive to think that these new houses belong to the locals. I am sorry to hear that wealthier people are buying and developing the best of what Iran has, even the mountains.

Re: Village of RoodbarakDid not mean to imply that the locals were not doing well, they seem to be doing ok too.

Re: Village of RoodbarakThank you Nader. I am relieved. As long as the locals a piece of the pie too.
