This pair of Desert bighorn lambs was enjoying a patch of grass in the South Dakota Badlands. The Badlands are at the western limit of the mixed-grass prairie, after which the land turns to the much drier shortgrass prairie. The exposed ridges that characterize the park tend to have short grass, if any.
You can also join the bighorns on ridgetop scrambles throughout the park, at least when it isn't raining.
