Livin' LEAN in AZ

How can a plant grow without leaves? Day/night temperatures in AZ's desert may change by 30 to 40 degrees. Cacti avoid excessive transpiration of water by opening their pores (stomata) only at night, then converting the nocturnal intake of carbon dioxide into an ACID used in photosynthesis during the heat of the next day. (And from here on in, Arizona's desert WILL be heating up; causing these flowers to die and brown in the ruthless sun.) Photo taken near Roosevelt Lake, AZ (04-16-2008)

Re: Dan the man !

Gracias, amigo! If gasoline and food costs
continue to rise, I'll be just as LEAN as
the cactus you see here. Have a good one!!
