Lone Peak crux

This is what I consider to be the crux of Lone Peak's standard route. The guy with the plaid shorts is going straight over the top, but I thought it was a bit easier hugging the rock at the bottom of the picture and swinging around the left side. That way you come around closer to the summit without having to go back down the other side of the steep boulder he's on. 8/9/08

Looks pretty dicey

We are planning to climb this rout this weekend. Nice shot of the crux, and thanks for the pointer. Already have a failed attempt (lightning) from the Alpine side 10 yrs. ago. Want to make it up this time, we'll hang to the left here!

Good luck this weekend! The summit is one of the best around. Coming back down the same way near the bottom left of this picture is a bit tricky since that little incline slopes downward away from the ridge slightly, but as long as your shoes have good grip you'll be fine.
