But where is the map

of these amazing wanderings? Even having been around the Bells / Hardy divide many times, I still couldn't quite figure out how you ended up below the lake, and how you needed to cross two ridges to be back in Bells :) Inquiring minds are starving for your clues LOL

Re: But where is the map

I need to map out the whole thing as best as I can remember. I have a general idea of where we went, but not specifics. All I know is we were lost and made it back. An UNBELIEVEABLE bushwhack with significant off trail meanderings.

Enjoyable!

I enjoyed reading this. Lone Peak was also my first significant summit back in 1993 (Jacobs Ladder).

In 1992, me and two buddies tried via Draper Ridge and after a wrong turn, significant bushwacking, minimal supplies and an overall ass-kicking at the hands of the mountain we learned how much more prepared we needed to be for the next time. I will never forget the sight of Lone Peak that first time on Draper Ridge around 9,000 feet where it first comes into view after being hidden all day...a very intimidating looking peak! We knew we had no chance at that point.

Great...

That is an awesome trip report. Your gear list cracks me up...mostly because it closely resembles the crap I carried on my early backpacking trips. The first time I went backpacking ever I had plenty of soda and lots of food and cotton clothing but I had no silverware and ended up eating my shells -n cheese with a piece of bark.

Great Story

Wow! Sounds like quite the adventure! My husband I are headed that way this weekend...via Jacob's Ladder. Can't wait to have the views you had!

Re: How did it go?

I assume you are talking about our anticipated summit last weekend? The babysitter for our kids backed out a day prior. Had all the gear packed, lunches made, POI loaded into the GPS and everything.... leslie78 and I had to abort our mission at the last second...Not happy campers...

Better late than never, we finally made it! Had an enjoyable summit a couple weeks ago!
