Looking east

Looking east

Mt. Zarrinkooh (3850m) on the right and Mt. Doberar East (4076m) on the left. Apparently Zarrinkooh is higher than 3850m but I remember this is what Iranian Mountain climbing federation map says. Mt. Doberar East is the highest point in the 55km Doberar/Gharehdagh ridgeline. Looking east from the summit of Mt. Tochal. (2/6/2009)

Great

Loved your pictures, the views are fantastic.

I hope to explore the peaks of the Dobrar Ridgeline from near Emamzadeh Hashem Pass to just beyond the Dobrar Peak this coming June.

Re: Great

Thank you for your votes and comments.

It is great that you are going again. However, I would suggest to go in May if you can. Apparently the snow condition will be worse than even that of last year unless we have a rainy spring.

Re: Great

Isn't that terrible? I thought about going sooner but I have already got my ticket.

Re: Great

Since Firoozkooh area got some good snow this year, hopefully at least part of Doberar ridgline will be OK! Unfortunately, temperature is unusually high these days causing snow to melt very fast!! I heard they may even close Shemshak ski resort in Norooz holidays.

Re: Great

It seems like even in June we are going to have lots of snow in Alborz mountains. As I am writing a heavy snow is falling in Tehran, and I heard there is going to be a ski competition in Shemshak in April 8th. Therefore, there shouldn't be any concern about the snow conditions, and don't worry about your trip being in June. Also Tochal ski resort most likely will be open till first day of summer like the normal years.

Re: Great

Very happy to hear that,

I check the forecast for the summit of Tochal every day. Was glad to see heavy snow fall for Monday & Tuesday with freezing line down to 1500-1800 m (Inside Tehran city limits). I was delighted to see moderate snow fall predicted for a few days from now as well.
