Lousewort and Rainier

Lousewort and Rainier

By golly, I believe this is Bracted Lousewort but the smaller cousin named Mt. Rainier Lousewort, (Pedicularis rainierensis). This is found only in the Mount Rainier area, is only 6"-16" tall, with many basal leaves and fewer, smaller stem leaves. Found between the Second and Third Burroughs Mountain above Sunrise, Rainier National Park. 7/24/08.

I do believe you're right!

Sorry for my late response - you must think I'm
a real "louse." I was doing a 'walkabout' of
sorts in central AZ, checking out some scenery.

I remember Burroughs Mtn. as being a "floral
lover's HEAVEN or HAVEN." The only thing that
comes CLOSE to these flowers in AZ are the
yellow Snapdragons. Yes, gotta LOVE the
fruitful efforts brought on by the PAC-NW
rain and weather patterns. When you take a
good look at it, you will find that everything is CONNECTED in one way or another. Awesome photograph, Trina !!!!

Also, in case you didn't know, that GAP in the background is called St. Elmo's Pass. Nice capture of the mountain's environment
and breathtaking landscape!!!!
