Wow - 8h drive tells google maps, that's not short for two full days in the mountains! Great that it payed off. Surely the first goal in the Dolomites had to be cancelled because of lacking snow. It's a strange winter: masses of snow in the north, too less in the south of the alps. Rieserferner Group is in the small zone in between.
You are right, we drove more than 10 hours. But we, hungarian, don't have too much choice: we don't have our own high mountains, so if we want to ski or climb something serious, we have to drive lots of hundreds of kilometers...
