| It's no 14er but it is an awesome hike close to town, especially in spring and fall. Took trails 12 and 8 in early April 2012. Lots of snow at the top but we were okay without any snow gear. Beautiful view from up top and a great early season training hike! | |

| This peak is very accessible from Boise making it a great training trail for hiking, running and mountain biking. I've hiked it several times from the Council Springs TH. It's mostly dry, so take whatever water you need. Bring a leash for your dog. | |

| I've lost count how many times I've hiked this trail from Council Springs. It's a Great training hike done in a 1/2 day or so. From the summit, a lesser used trail on the SW ridgeline gives you a scenic shortcut back to the main trail. | |

| Trying to get in shape for the climbing season ahead I drove up the Highland Summit on Highway 21 and climbed up to the top of Lucky Peak and back. It was a nice hike in the hot sun that day, but made it to the top with the three dogs and back down. | |

| Lucky Peak was the first real mountain I ever climbed. My brother George and I needed to log a couple of 10 mile hikes for our hiking merit badges so we picked Lucky Peak as our objective. We started at the bottom of Tablerock just past the Prison no-entry fence (yes, guards and guns) and went over the top of Tablerock. From there we headed directly to the east ridge and on to the summit. We descended in a straight line down through the large drainage on the west face, hiked back over Tablerock and went directly to the Pen-Inn for burgers and cokes. For our 20 mile hike we repeated the same approach to the summit but extended the hike by walking over to Aldape Summit and back to Boise by way of Rocky Canyon. | |

| Long 5.5 miles up and 5.5 back down. I totally enjoyed it and hung out with the Bird Branding project people for a while. They were setting traps for Owls at night and luring Hawks in by day. Also were branding the Songbirds | |

| Climbed solo today. Was nice and sunny and I got burned a bit. There was still a lot of snow on the upper section. This was my 2nd time up of probably many more to come. I will have to trie the Boise Front Range Traverse next. | |

| I'd been up here dozens of times on a bike, from several directions, but never all the way on foot. Beautiful day with sunshine and no wind. Above the smog! We followed the road up, then wandered about on the descent. | |
