Carpathian wisent

Carpathian wisent

A great encounter with an emperor of the first-class Carpathian wilderness happened on Saturday 25.08.2012 at about 9 a.m. I was roaming along Tworylczyk valley at first hearing the wild boars grunting and then in a couple of minutes this wisent got frightened by my presence (distance just about 15 meters) and escaped to the safety at about 100 meters from me. Only then I could capture this very rare shot:-)

Great catch!

Probably the best SP photo of a wisent at large.

Re: Great catch!

I guess a telephoto lens is normally used by wildlife photographers. Actually, I'd rather the image was 18xzoomed.:)

Re: Great catch!

OK, but I prefer video footage (30x optical zoom) to pixs. Even with 18x zoom I would have a little chance to capture a herd of about 30 individuals at a distance of more than 200 meters. Moreover, my common practise is that wildlife must be filmed at first and then shot:-)
