Route Description

Route Stats (from the summit of Mackay Peak)
  • Total Mileage:4.5
  • Total Elevation Gain:2,000'
  • Class: II

From the summit, drop down a small gully directly below through some class two scrambling and mixed evergreen brush. Skirt a small rock formation on either side to reach the ridge at roughly 9,800'.

Follow the barren ridgeline mile on enjoyable rock to the summit of North White Knob at 10,529'. At this point the twin summited Middle White Knob come into view as well as te remainder of the route.

Continue along the windswept rigeline one mile to the highest summit of White Knob Mountain. It is easy for those not use to class III terrain to avoid any on the final push to the top.

    Essential Gear

No essential gear required except for extra water as there is none along the route. Be prepared for unexpected high winds, this area is notorious for them.
