Maine's Highpoint.

Maine's Highpoint.

Mount Katahdin, 5,267' above sea level, is Class One and our country's 22nd highest state highpoint. Hurricane Nicole's fierce winds prompted Baxter State Park to close the mountain. The park rangers stated the winds atop the summit were nearly 100 mph. Hurricane Nicole followed me up the coast. The fall foliage near Millinocket, Maine was spectacular, though! Photographed from the River Pond Nature Trail. (A little bit of trivia for ya. Maine is the only state with one syllable.)
