New Hampshire's Highpoint

New Hampshire's Highpoint

Mount Washington, 6,288' above sea level, is our country's 18th highest state highpoint. My 39th HP. I arrived at Mount Washington late afternoon; too late for hiking to the summit. Hurricane Nicole continued to punish the Northeast with stormy weather so I cheated and rode the cog railway to the summit. Mount Washington has some of our nation's most severe weather, hurricane or not. 231 mph winds (fastest in the world until recently) have been recorded on the summit. Today's winds were only 70 mph. Yes, my hands are cold.
