Maple Lake?

Maple Lake?

On the way to Spanish Fork Peak, I noted that there was a lake on the way. I must admit I was somewhat disappointed to gain 3500 feet of elevation and 4 miles anticipating a nice cool lake. Instead, I found this pond, and lo and behold, it turned out to be Maple Lake. I did see bear tracks along the perimeter of this little body of water and as the only water source in the area at this time of year, it probably has a fair share of wild visitors such as bear, cougars and deer. 7-14-07

Maple Pond

That's sad. I guess because of the hot dry weather that the lake evaporated and is going to disappear soon.

Re: Maple Pond

Its a bit deeper than it looks but it must get very tiny by the end of the summer. I had a chance to try for Black Crook Peak on monday but my son and I backed off due to the weather (think electrical storm). Can't wait to get down there in September for a whole year. So many I want to do. : )
