Maroon Mountain

Maroon Mountain

"... I hope that someone gets my - message in a bottle - yeah!" Looking NW from the top of Brins Mesa, one can see across the Dry Creek drainage into the colourful Red Rock - Secret Mountain Wilderness. In June 2006, a wildfire (reportedly caused by an abandoned campfire) burned across the top of Brins Mesa in an easterly direction, crossing over Wilson Mountain and coming to within one mile of Slide Rock State Park in Oak Creek Canyon. Over three years after the fire, I found desert holly and grasses growing amid standing dead junipers as I "zoomed" toward 6,666' Maroon Mountain. Gotta watch out for a mountain with an elevation of four sixes! November 19, 2009

Re: Sick...

Yes! Even with the recent wildfire, the land
was able to recover nicely, and the views are grander than they ever were!
