Mars over the Tower

Mars over the Tower

This has to be one of my favorite photographs. I used a Nikon N80 with a 17 to 35 2.8 lens set at 17mm and f=2.8 for about 25 minutes around 10:00pm. We were staying at Devil's Tower Lodge with Frank Sanders. He was entertaining us on the panio and I ran outside between songs to shoot this. This being my first try at star trails, I was thrilled with the results. This was shot on September 3 of 2003 a few hours after finally getting to summit. This night Mars was closer to earth than it will be in something like 200 years. The green forground was caused by the pole light in Frank's yard. Everything about that trip was fantastic!

Re: Sublime

Thank You!
I have tried this several other times but never with this result. This was a very special trip! I reccomend Devil's Tower to anybody that likes climbing. Call Frank at Devil's Tower Lodge for info.

Re: Sublime

I will have to knock that out next time I'm in the area. Thanks.
This is a great result. Hope you get some more in the future.
