Chased after Sean up and down Matthes on the fifth day of the 2011 Sierra Challenge. Trip Report

East ridge
For the Sierra Challenge. The ridge was easy class 2, but getting there involved some steep snow chutes, which got "interesting" with my Kahtoola running-shoe crampons.
Route Climbed: Northwest Ridge Date Climbed: 17-AUG-1998
Horrible slog over the moraines, exciting climb up to Packsaddle Pass. The ridge was a typical scramble. Summit plateau was a garden of wildflowers. Watched a golden eagle drift past along the edge of the north face.
