Mima Mounds | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] | |||
Mima mounds, such as seen in this photo, are a geological oddity found only in a few places in the world. They are named after the Mima Prairie, in Thurston County of Washington State, within which a large number of the formations are located. Their origin is unknown but widely debated. Photo taken on November 14, 2009, in Mima Mounds Natural Area Preserve. |
