Hey Kathie ??Haven't heard from you - how've you been?
Monte Rosa is a spectacular mountain.
I'm not familiar with the history of
glaciation in the Alps, but I'm assuming
that this glacier is doing its job to carve
out the mountain, and provide water for the
countryside below.
It appears to be a bit more "challenging" of
a climb than Mt. Rainier would be. Cheers!!!

Re: Hey Kathie ??Hi Larry
There are all sorts of routes up Monte rosa - just like Rainier. But the face you are seeing is some of the harder ones. Kind of like the Willis Wall on Rainier eh?

Re: Hey Kathie ??Yes, but the detail in that glacier is so
incredible! The dark streak of rock along the
glacier's center-line must be a very
pronounced Medial Moraine.
And, whenever I visit Washington state, I shout at the top of my lungs, "Moraine!
Moraine!!!" (Most often, it works!) :)))
