I always wanted to shoot a picture with the rising moon. However, my attempts never turned out right. Ironically, when I finally saw the perfect motif, it was near one of the ugliest places of the Pyrenees: Piau-Engaly. We just returned from a hike which had taken us to three mountain passes and I had just crossed the creek when I saw this little tree with Miss Luna paying it a visit. I grabbed the camera for this single 250mm shot. Oct 4th 2011 Comments[ Post a Comment ] | Dean | Timing is everything | |
Voted 10/10 | and you had the good sense to grab the camera and go for it. Just a really neat shot and very deserving of Picture of the day. | | Posted Oct 31, 2011 9:15 am |

Hasn't voted | Thanks, Dean. It's always the timing which marks the good shots. But moonrises are so much more difficult to capture than colourful sunsets, most of all since the moon is incredibly bright compared to the night sky. You gotta have the luck to see it before the sun goes down, but also while the sky is not too bright nor too dark. A small timeframe ... | | Posted Oct 31, 2011 4:16 pm |

Voted 10/10 | "The Moon and the Tree", sounds like a collection of poems, and great lighting too. | | Posted Oct 31, 2011 9:35 am |

Hasn't voted | You know, Ejnar, I always wanted to have a collection of moon shots. I would have called them "Moonscapes". However, this is the first decent one so I guess the publication will have to wait a little :-) | | Posted Oct 31, 2011 4:12 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks! I didn't even realize that the pic might ecome good when I shot it. Later on I mused whether I should have stayed and should have experimented with different exposures and a different lense. I'm sure if I had the blue would be a much darker hue. But would the picture be better? Finally I'm happy with it as it is, and that it took only a single shot. | | Posted Nov 10, 2011 7:19 am |
