Date Climbed: Oct 14, 2016

#1 10-14-16 With Brent & Lana. Fall colors were still brilliant in the aspen stands, and the unusual perspective on Gobblers Knob and Mt. Raymond were noteworthy. The sign at the TH says the distance to Aire's summit is 2 miles. This is a pleasant hike in all respects.

Climbed up from the Maple Grove parking lot. Packed snow most of the way up. A nice morning stroll. Good views from the top but it would be better as a sunset hike.

Most ascents have been from the Maple Grove parking lot (and then up Elbow Fk) prior to it opening on July 1st. Maple Grove adds almost exactly 3 miles to the hike making the round trip ~6.5 miles. The hike from Elbow Fork can be completed in under two hours with a decent pace.

1/4/2015 Traverse from Grandeur Peak.
5/5/2013 Church Fork Peak: From the Church Fork trail we followed an old faint trail that cut through the brush to the ridge a few hundred yards before Church Fork Peak. From Church Fork Peak we followed the Millcreek ridge to where the Burch Hollow trail intersects it, and then followed that trail back down to the pipeline trail. We followed the pipeline trail back to the Church Fork trailhead making for a nice loop. We measured our success in the fact we kept the bushwhacking to a minimum.
12/23/12 Mt. Aire: We followed the Pipeline trail from Burch Hollow to the Elbow trailhead and then on up to Mt. Aire.

first time on top of Mt Aire was 20 July 1988; I have photos of horned lizard (not seen so much recently). have yet to get to Church Fork Peak.
6 July 2013: latest of several times on Millvue Peak. Previous times via Lambs Canyon, this time the first from Millcreek (Elbow Fork TH, but had to walk along the road from the locked gate to get there).

Ran from Church Fork to Elbow Fork by way of the ridge from Grandeur Peak to Mt Aire, ~11 miles. Used a bicycle shuttle. I've run the next two ridges to the north, and this one scratched up my legs the most; whoever wrote the bushwhacking is not so bad, was probably wearing long pants and boots, not swim trunks and Vibram Five Fingers. Between the bushwhacking delays and the fact that it was my first run in a couple months, I ran out of food, water, and stamina before reaching Mt Aire, but I forced myself up (had to walk) anyway, and it was a beautiful day of pink bigtooth maples and yellow box elders, with some aspens also starting to go off.

Had a strained thigh, so was looking for an easy and flat walk...this wasn't it. Summitted Mt Aire in a less than spectular time, enjoyed the outstanding view, declared victory and limped down the hill.
