Thanks for you comment, I included it into the main page content as a version, but as for myself I wouldn't agree with you. Mount Foros is named after the ancient settlment located at the foot of the mountain on the sea coast. It is always spelled as Foros, but as for Lighthouse - you might be wrong as Foros is located in the bay and the closest place where lighthouse can be - it is Sarych cape, but it is quite far from Foros.

It also appears that the wind is "aeras" in Greek, but it doesn't mean anything of course. On the web, a number of sites explain Foros as Greek for "gusty" (wind), "draught" (wind), "conduit of winds", or ... "nice, pleasant weather" (?) (e.g. travelcrimea.ru), or just "wind" (tours.ru).
A number of other websites (e.g travel.kyiv.org say that there are two versions of the name. Either it was a regional collection point for taxes for the common treasury of Delos Union of Greek seaside towns (variations: Athens tax, or ... market square?) , or that it is named after the famous lighthouse in Alexandria, Egypt.
One site says that it means "cliff"!
Hmmm.... probably every travel promoter or tour organizer has one's own favorite version, whichever sells the best :)
Well, well, well... I always accept different points of view, and knowing not Greek nor any other ancient languages, I can not pretend to a complete knowledge of this subject. As for myself the "windy" variant looks the most truth-like because the place is really exposed to the winds, especially in winter time
