VtownStrider4th highpoint  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Mar 15, 2009

This is my home state so I was very excited to climb this highpoint, as everyone is aware, the actual marker can be a little tricky to locate, but my buddy and I finally did. Nice views of Bear Mountain, which some people think is the state highpoint but it's not.

On a cold but sunny day, I scrambled over the snow covered rocks of Round Mountain and Mount Frissell to reach the Connecticut highpoint. I saw no one and the only other tracks in the snow were those of a dog, or maybe a coyote. HP32

First state high point! All of the wet leaves covering the rocks made the climb a little treacherous, but a nice, short hike regardless.

State High Point number 3. Really short hike, two very steep sections, which were fun with the exception of the wet leaves. Those weren't so cool. A little hard to find the exact trail.. just go slow and find the red blazes on the opposite side of the AMC parking lot. very short hike though! literally took two hours round trip, and i took my sweet time.

Was very surprised with the amount of cars at the trail head, was hard to find a place to park. Expected it to be much harder to located the trail head then it was, directions are quite good. Really enjoyed the steep sections. Overall great hike.

Enjoyed finding this little gem on a foggy morning. The steep, rocky portions of the trail were quite challenging on the way down. It was wet and slippery and made me realize I need to invest in some new hiking shoes ;-) Only wiped out once!

Ascended with my husband, who carried our adorable, ancient dog on his front. It was a beautiful day and a lovely, if quick, hike.

Based on the steepness of a couple sections of the trail, I don't recommend it in wet weather. It was harder on my non-hiker husband than he expected.

It was my 12th highpoint, his 6th, and our pup's 3rd.

This was my brother's and my first high point. We regretted that we didn't bring bug spray along with us, but it was a pretty easy hike and we had some really great views since it was such a beautiful day.
