| It's not the prettiest mountain but it keeps me in shape. I've done it many times by some explorative routes. | ||

| Nice trail and views! Although even at 11am in late April this was a warm hike, definitely wouldn't want to climb this one on a summer afternoon. | ||

| Great little trail, short but steep. Nice elevation gain for getting ready for bigger mountains. Little hard on the knees coming down, but the experience and views are worth the pain! | ||

| All around wonderful mountain packed with exciting formations and breath-taking (literally) approaches! I've utilized mt. garfield for the past six months as a conditioning tool and have developed a healthy respect for its numerous different and interesting approaches. I recommend trying one of the many many many different alternate routes that exist! | ||

| 2,000ft in 2 miles. It'll definately get you sweating. Especially when it's 80 frickin degrees out! From the summit, I can see why they're called the Book Cliffs. Beautiful views of the Grand Valley. | ||

| Climbed this with my youngest son. He wasn't in the right frame of mind when we first started but I believe he enjoyed it as much as I did at the end. Tremendous views! They were replacing the flag while we were on the summit. They told us the pole commemorated Vietnam Veterans of the Grand Junction area. | ||

| Fresh snow from the night before made the hike even more scenic than it normally must be. The weather, time of year, and the fact that I hiked early on a weekday meant I had the mountain all to myself the entire time. | ||

| I think we should rename Mount G to Mount Mars as it looks like something more from the red planet that our own. Just a thought. I'm full of them. It is steep. good training for Denali with mucho weight on! | ||

| Had the summit to myself on an overcast Tuesday afternoon. Was in Grand Junction for work in the morning. Spent two hours roundtrip. I didn't realize that about 2/3 of the elevation is gained before the one mile mark! It was tough on the toes coming down. | ||

| Did the 2000' to summit in under 45 minutes. Noted my exact time in the summit register, might have been right at 40 minutes, can't remember. I assume there is a trail race on this mountain every year, if not, there should be. Observed some horses, maybe wild, maybe not, on a grassy plateau half way up. Cheers. | ||

| Climbed Mt. Garfield a number of times. It is very challenging for a two mile hike with 2000 feet of elevation gain. Very good training hike for higher mountains or just to keep you in shape. What happened to the flag this year? | ||

| March 16 2012 I gave a slideshow in Vernal the evening of the 15th and then had to be in Palisade the next night. On the way between Vernal and Palisade Kimberly and I stopped at Fourmile Draw in Canyon Pintado. We hiked the supposed two mile (according to some sources; we believe the loop is shorter) loop past the pictographs and petroglyphs. After Fourmile Draw we headed to Palisade. We still had time to climb Mount Garfield. It was really windy, but we made the climb anyway. It was almost hot climbing up the mountain and we made our way rather quickly to the summit. After enjoying the fine views, we returned down the mountain. I didn’t bring trekking poles, so the very steep climb down was very slippery. March 27 2011 Today I hiked Mount Garfield after church in Grand Junction. It was raining, but after church it cleared and I set off up the mountain. It’s a fairly steep, but easy climb with nice views. Once at the summit, instead of following the standard trail down, I followed the ridge east over several other minor summits before heading back down to the trailhead. October 13 2001 I climbed Mount Garfield with my pregnant wife. We saw some wild horses and enjoyed the nice views. | ||

| I was in town visiting the in-laws so I thought I'd give this little mountain a try. The weather was gorgeous and the views were worth the hike. It took me almost exactly an hour to reach the summit from the trailhead. | ||
