Easy hike  Sucess!

Climbed this on a beautiful day! Too bad the memorial tower was closed, but the road was closed so there were very few people on top.

Pretty peak  Sucess!

I climbed this mountain when I was a summer storekeeper at Camp Beckett. It was my second or third state high point, and at the time I had a thought: maybe someday I could do all the high points and write a book about how to do them all. But part of me said nah, nobody else would be interested in bagging all the high points.

Will have to come back and do this one right  Sucess!

Drove up on a cloudy/rainy day for an unfulfilling summit bag. Will have to try hiking up sometime to do this one right, and hopefully be rewarded with good views on a clear day.

Greylock  Sucess!

I've hiked on this mountain a lot because i used to live close. Great trail system. I've been up to the summit from just about every direction! It has been nice with no cars the last year and a half. The Road is scheduled to be re-opened this summer though along with the lodge... I'm sure thru hikers of the AT will be happy about this(the lodge). Hike up on a nice sunny day! You wont be disappointed!

Bear!  Sucess!

Encountered some late through-hikers on the AT. On my way back out I saw a baby bear scamper across the trail, which was scary since mama bear was surely somewhere around!

HP #20  Sucess!

I did this one solo as my wife was still a little sore from Connecticut's highpoint the previous day. I summitted via the Gould Trail located off of the Chesire Harbor Trail. It was a constantly steady uphill with a 6.6 mile round trip distance. This very likely could be my last Eastern Highpoint for the year.

Home state HP under control  Sucess!

UP Thunderbolt to Summit  Sucess!

Boogied up the short but steep Thunderbolt with my 10 year old and all our gear. Summit area under construction but looks great and almost finished! camped in one of the lean to's a little ways down from the top and hiked down the next morning. This would be an easy one day up and down, but we wanted to overnight it. NH & MA highpoints conquered!

So I was the only one at the top after taking the Cheshire Harbor Trail. Great views to the east! HP # 13, and one of 7 on my trip to the northeast in a week.

Mount Greylock  Sucess!

Climbed via the Appalachian Trail from the Williamstown Resevoir. A nice summer dayhike. Climbed it when the Auto Road was closed for maintenance so there was almost no one up there. Good views of the Taconics and the Berkshires. My first mountain in Massachusetts and my fourth state highpoint!

5/31/2008  Sucess!

Was a ton of fun. I climbed Thunderbolt to the top. It was a great trail plus was decently steep. I'm hoping to go up there this winter, since the trail should be easy with crampons and so handy equipment.
