Fun climb despite the recent fire damage  Sucess!

Took the Elk Mountain trail from Sunset pool and descended to the Bonanza Mine before scrambling back up to the summit of Lincoln. The mountain had just been charred by wildfires, and we could still see hot spots smoldering near Lost Lake the day we climbed. I'll say that there's not much to see at the abandoned mine shaft, but it was interesting to pass by none the less.

No Survey Marker Here  Sucess!

Climbed Mt Lincoln again looking for the ACofE Survey Marker. The marker is not on the top of the main summit of Mt Lincoln. Couldn't find it anywhere! Hiked from Indiahoma Rd near foot of Bat Cave Mtn up the valley (with stream) to the south summit and site of 1968 plane crash. Then circled around approached/climbed the main summit was from the NE side.

Finally!!  Sucess!

My son Zach, myself, and Pablo (a friend from Chile) were sucessful in summiting the peak. Our route was up the NE side from the Fawn Creek area. We approached the mountain just east and south of the north peak (big boulder cluster) of Mt Lincoln. We made our final approach from the north across the center top of the mountain... picking and finding the easiest way. Crawling through a tree between two boulders we stepped onto the actual summit. The summit was very windy and the temp was in the 40's at about 1:00 PM. Mission accomplished!

Route Climbed: Several Date Climbed: Many Times  Sucess!

The best time I had on this mountain was in the 1970s when I woke up on the side of this mountain in the morning to find a herd of elk feeding around my tent. I used to wander around this mountain looking old mines and Spanish rock paintings.
